K24A2 Headers vs. 1995 Honda Del Sol VTEC Stock ABS

Updated: Nov 27, 2023

Truly, a battle getting this big old gal' in there to begin with but retaining the Factory ABS was probably the least budget effective choice I made throughout the whole swap. In doing so NONE of the off the shelf headers would work as they would all crash the Factory ABS pump. Relocation to me was not an option as I would just delete the unit instead and go to a non-abs model line set for the firewall, but after leaving it in during paint, and through further consideration for my previous desires to keep the Factory ABS, I decided I would modify the Ktuned Race Header I purchased to clear the ABS unit and build a heat shield for the unit if necessary. - BTW - necessary.

My Del Sol up on the lift ready to recieve the full exhaust treatment!

Here is a bunch of the final fitment/finish of the custom header and heat shield Kyle McLennan built for the car. Kyle is one badass fabricator and a good friend, he is Tucson local now but when he was in Dallas we exchanged work and I did some serious R&D for his Evo 10 with a Standalone. That will be one cool rally car someday soon!

Here is some photos of what the exhaust ended up looking like. I decided to go with TiCon SS 3in tubing for the exhaust. The Ktuned header actually had a smaller exhaust flange (maybe 2.5in?), but we ended up deciding to replace the flex joint and change things up in the rework so the exhaust would be a legit 3in all the way through. About $800 in materials including the 2 mufflers. - Feb. 2023.

I loved the way everything ended up turning out! Pro tip though, the exhaust exit like this does induce some pretty excessive highway drone at certain RPM, and the vehicle sounds way louder in the car because of this. At some point I might decide to change it but it looks pretty dope honestly. The car is very modest and does not attract straight pipe attention by a long shot, but the exhaust is by far from stealth and anyone around the car knows that this thing is prolly packin' or sum lol. Thanks again for the sick work Kyle!

The finished exhaust system, looking all shiny!

Cheers everyone and Happy Creating!
